Rochester Man Pleads Guilty to Firearm Charge

ROCHESTER, Minn. – In a shocking turn of events, a Rochester man has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Lorenzo Eugene Heard Jr., 38, entered his guilty plea on September 19, 2019, before Judge David S. Doty in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to documents filed in court, Heard crashed his vehicle while driving in Rochester on May 1, 2018, and fled the scene, leaving a loaded Cobra semiautomatic .380 caliber pistol behind. The guilty plea revealed that Heard has been previously convicted of multiple violent offenses, including armed robbery, assault and drug charges, which prohibit him from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law.

The case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Rochester Police Department and the ATF. Assistant United States Attorney Bradley M.
