Stephen Nicot, Child Pornography, New York 2022

Stephen Nicot, a 61-year-old man from Rochester, NY, is going behind bars for 12 long years after being convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography. Nicot’s crimes were as heinous as they were brazen. He carefully set up cameras in the bathroom of a local church, capturing intimate moments of unsuspecting individuals, including minors, using the shower.

The church, located in the Western District of New York, was unwittingly transformed into Nicot’s twisted playground. For nearly two years, between 2012 and 2014, he would meticulously hide a camera to capture video and images of naked individuals, fully aware that some of them were underage. His sickening plan was to display the video and images of the minors, further exploiting their vulnerability.

On July 21, 2022, law enforcement executed a warrant at Nicot’s residence, uncovering a treasure trove of incriminating evidence. A memory card and USB drive were seized, containing videos and images of at least five minor victims. Two cell phones were also confiscated, featuring naked images of a minor victim, who was recorded by a camera hidden in Nicot’s own bathroom.

The investigation, led by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Task Force, shed light on Nicot’s heinous crimes. The team, under the direction of Sheriff Todd Baxter and Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, worked tirelessly to bring Nicot to justice.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. Nicot will serve 144 months in prison, a fitting punishment for his crimes. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kyle Rossi and Meghan K. McGuire handled the case, pushing for justice for the victims.

As Nicot begins his 12-year prison sentence, his victims can finally find some solace. The law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation have shown that they will stop at nothing to protect the vulnerable and bring predators like Nicot to justice. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for continued efforts to combat child exploitation.
