Rogelio Valencia-Sanchez Charged in Immigration Case

Erie, PA – A shocking indictment was unsealed in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, charging Rogelio Valencia-Sanchez, 42, with violating federal immigration laws.

According to the indictment, Valencia-Sanchez was found to be unlawfully present within the United States on April 22, 2013. This egregious violation of US laws has sparked outrage among immigration experts and law enforcement officials.

As reported, Valencia-Sanchez had been previously ordered deported and removed from the United States on December 6, 1990 and was removed from the United States on March 29, 2005. Despite this, he reentered the country without permission and was found to be present in the US without the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security’s approval. Furthermore, Valencia-Sanchez possessed a fraudulent Permanent Resident card.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Christine A. Sanner is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

As the investigation unfolded, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection played a crucial role in uncovering the extent of Valencia-Sanchez’s immigration-related crimes.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
