MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – A Red Lake man has been sentenced to 83 months in prison for sexually abusing a minor on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
Ronald Royce Pearson, 63, committed the heinous act on August 27, 2022, while visiting a residence on the reservation.
Pearson’s despicable behavior landed him in hot water, and on September 6, 2023, he pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lindsey E. Middlecamp prosecuted the case, bringing Pearson to justice for his heinous crime.
U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Judge Nancy E. Brasel.
This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI, the Red Lake Police Department, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The 83-month prison sentence is severe, but it’s a step in the right direction towards holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
