Marshall D. Rosenberger, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Illinois 2017

Marshall D. Rosenberger, 36, of Carbondale, has been sentenced to federal prison for a methamphetamine offense. On June 8, 2017, Rosenberger was sentenced to 108 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was fined $350.00.

Rosenberger had previously pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. The indictment alleged the offense occurred between October 2015 and July 13, 2016, in Jackson and Williamson Counties.

Evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings established Rosenberger was involved with Lucas Holland and other persons in the manufacture of methamphetamine and distribution of ice in southern Illinois. Ice is methamphetamine which has a purity level of at least 80%. At sentencing, the district court found Rosenberger was responsible for the possession or distribution of 42.53 grams of ice, 312 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, and 2.88 grams of pseudoephedrine.

Lucas Holland was previously sentenced to 188 months of imprisonment for his role in the ice conspiracy. The investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Southern Illinois Enforcement Group. The Carbondale Police Department also assisted in the investigation.

The sentence handed down to Rosenberger is a significant one, and it reflects the seriousness of the offense. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive and destructive drug, and those involved in its manufacture and distribution will be held accountable.

The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Donald S. Boyce. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting drug trafficking in southern Illinois.

In addition to the prison sentence, Rosenberger will also be subject to three years of supervised release. This will provide an opportunity for him to receive treatment and support to address any underlying issues that may have contributed to his involvement in the methamphetamine trade.
