Ruben Toledo Jr. Sentenced for Meth Conspiracy

In a blow to the methamphetamine trade, Ruben Toledo Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was sentenced to 84 months in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, Toledo was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose on June 12, 2015 and was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release following imprisonment, and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victim Fund.

The conspiracy charge stemmed from an investigation by law enforcement into drug trafficking in and around the Southern District of Iowa and the District of Nebraska. The investigation, which began as early as February 2014 and continued through September 2014, revealed that Toledo conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine in the Southern District of Iowa.

The investigation was conducted by the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Toledo pled guilty to the charge on January 8, 2015.

The prison sentence brings an end to Toledo’s involvement in the methamphetamine trade. The Southern District of Iowa remains committed to combating drug trafficking and bringing those responsible to justice.
