Aggravated Sexual Abuse Allegations Rock Eagle Butte Community
A disturbing case of Aggravated Sexual Abuse has sent shockwaves through the Eagle Butte community, leaving many searching for answers. Ryan Dupris, a 24-year-old Eagle Butte man, has been accused of committing the heinous crime.
The incident in question allegedly occurred on January 2, 2019, when Dupris allegedly used force and threats to coerce a female victim into a sexual act. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed.
According to reports, Dupris was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 10, 2019 for the Aggravated Sexual Abuse charge. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on September 16, 2019, and pled not guilty to the indictment.
The potential consequences for Dupris are severe. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to life in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, as well as 5 years of supervised release and a $100 payment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Additionally, restitution may be ordered.
The investigation into the matter is being conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Cook handling the prosecution.
