Grimy Times Exclusive

A despicable act of child exploitation has shaken the motocross community in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ryan Meyung, a 33-year-old motocross instructor, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for preying on young children.

According to court documents, Meyung exploited multiple young children between July 2019 and December 2021 while traveling the country as a motocross instructor. He produced images and videos of six different minor victims engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including sex acts with him and with each other. The victims were between 6 and 13 years old at the time.

Meyung also possessed and transported images and videos of child sexual abuse produced by other sex offenders and sexually abused and recorded other children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He pleaded guilty in April to six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor (producing child sexual abuse material) and has been in custody since his arrest in December 2021.

Ryan Meyung, a former mentor to many young riders, has been stripped of his freedom and will face a lifetime of supervised release upon his release from prison. He has also been ordered to pay at least $193,500 in restitution to his victims.

The investigation into Meyung’s heinous crimes was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Chattanooga, with assistance from HSI Dalton, the Hamilton County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Office, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Police Department, and HSI field offices throughout the country.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan for the Northern District of Georgia, and Special Agent in Charge Rana Saoud of HSI Nashville made the announcement.
