Isaias Aroldo Contreras, Fentanyl Distribution, California 2024

Facing the harshest penalties of his criminal career, Isaias Aroldo Contreras, 26, of Sacramento, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb to five years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.

The sentence followed the execution of a search warrant at Contreras’s residence on January 5, 2023. Law enforcement agents uncovered 992 fentanyl-laced pills designed to mimic oxycodone “M-30” tablets, a Glock 9mm pistol, $31,154 in cash, and an array of custom diamond jewelry, including a Rolex watch adorned with full-cut diamonds.

Contreras’s cellphone, seized during the raid, revealed messages between him and drug suppliers and customers from March 2020 to December 2022. These exchanges detailed the purchase and sale of counterfeit M-30 pills in quantities ranging from hundreds to thousands and cocaine in kilogram amounts.

In addition to his prison term, Contreras was ordered to forfeit $31,154 in cash and jewelry valued at over $50,000 to the government.

This case is a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement. The Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Sacramento Area Intelligence/Narcotics Task Force (SAINT) collaborated on the investigation that led to Contreras’s conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer was the lead prosecutor.

Contreras’s sentence was a result of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the most dangerous criminal organizations. For more information on OCDETF, visit Justice.gov/OCDETF.
