A 36-year-old Mexican man has been sentenced to six months in prison for reentering the United States without permission, the US Attorney’s Office announced today.
Miguel Angel Lozada-Dominguez, a Mexican citizen, pleaded guilty in May 2025 to one count of illegal reentry, a federal crime.
According to court documents, on April 7, 2025, law enforcement officers in St. Regis, Montana, came into contact with Lozada-Dominguez, who was soliciting money from bystanders while holding a notebook with handwritten English phrases.
When questioned by authorities, Lozada-Dominguez admitted to being a Mexican citizen and stated that he did not possess valid immigration documents or any legal authorization to enter the United States.
Lozada-Dominguez’s records showed that he was convicted of illegal entry and ordered removed from the US on January 24, 2019. He failed to seek or receive authorization from the Attorney General to reenter the country.
The case against Lozada-Dominguez is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
US Attorney Kurt Alme praised the efforts of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which conducted the investigation, and his office, which prosecuted the case.
The sentence was handed down by US District Judge Donald W. Molloy. Lozada-Dominguez will serve his six-month sentence followed by removal from the United States.
The Department of Justice is committed to enforcing immigration laws and protecting the country’s borders from those who seek to enter without permission.
