Enrique Hernandez-Rodriguez, Illegal Reentry, Montana 2025

GREAT FALLS – A Mexican man with a history of immigration violations has been sentenced for illegal reentry into the United States, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme.

Enrique Hernandez-Rodriguez, 51, pleaded guilty in August 2025 to illegal reentry. The sentence handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris was time served and mandatory remand to U.S. Border Patrol upon release.

Hernandez-Rodriguez’s criminal record dates back to 2007, with offenses including negligent driving and driving with a revoked license. He was removed from the United States in January 2021 but returned without permission on July 26, 2025, near Chinook, Montana.

The incident began when the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) stopped Hernandez-Rodriguez on July 26. Border Patrol agents confirmed he had no legal immigration documents and was detained. Upon admission of his citizenship and illegal status, Hernandez-Rodriguez faced charges.

Prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the case was a result of an investigation led by the U.S. Border Patrol and MHP. It is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.

This operation combines efforts from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). The sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges in border security and immigrant law enforcement.
