Salvador Dionisio-Guillermo, Illegal Re-Entry, Pennsylvania 2021

HARRISBURG — Salvador Dionisio-Guillermo, 42, of Mexico, was indicted November 3, 2021, on federal charges of illegal re-entry into the United States, marking a second brush with U.S. immigration law after being deported in 2008.

The federal grand jury indictment alleges Dionisio-Guillermo slipped back into the country sometime after his 2008 removal, bypassing inspection by immigration authorities. He was later found in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, living in the shadows of the federal immigration system.

According to U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, the case underscores an ongoing challenge with previously deported individuals reentering the U.S. illegally. Dionisio-Guillermo is accused of evading detection for over a decade before being apprehended by federal agents.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) led the investigation, tracking Dionisio-Guillermo’s movements and confirming his undocumented status. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joanne M. Sanderson is handling prosecution.

If convicted, Dionisio-Guillermo faces a maximum of two years in federal prison, a term of supervised release, and a fine. However, under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence will depend on multiple factors, including criminal history, behavior, and the specifics of the re-entry.

As with all federal cases, the indictment is an allegation. Salvador Dionisio-Guillermo is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Middle District of Pennsylvania will oversee the proceedings as the case moves toward resolution.
