Albany Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking
ALBANY, NEW YORK – In a shocking turn of events, 51-year-old Albany resident Samuel Coleman has pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
The disturbing revelation comes after an extensive investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Colonie Police Department, and New York State Police. The operation, which spanned over a year, uncovered a staggering 1,613 grams of methamphetamine distributed by Coleman between March 2020 and January 2021.
Coleman, a resident of Albany, now faces a daunting sentence at his upcoming trial. Under federal guidelines, he may receive a term of imprisonment ranging from 10 years to life, accompanied by a fine of up to $10 million and a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, led by Carla B. Freedman, and the DEA’s New York Division, under the guidance of Special Agent in Charge Frank A. Tarentino III, have been instrumental in bringing Coleman to justice.
Ashlyn Miranda, Assistant U.S. Attorney, will prosecute the case, ensuring that Coleman receives a sentence fitting of his crimes.
