Texas Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine in Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Saul Macedo-Rodriguez, age 38, a resident of Texas, has been sentenced to 120 months imprisonment for his role in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute large quantities of cocaine in the Eastern District of Louisiana.

According to court documents, Macedo-Rodriguez and his co-conspirators distributed multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin within the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The investigation, which was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration – New Orleans Field Division Office, was a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation.

OCDETF is a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman of the Narcotics Unit.

A total of $200 mandatory special assessment fee was also imposed on Macedo-Rodriguez as part of the sentence.

The case is a prime example of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt and dismantle the highest-level drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
