Dalmary Morales, Gun Store Burglary, New York 2018

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – In a grim turn of events, Dalmary Morales, 38, from Schenectady, New York, faced the music as she was sentenced to 57 months in prison for her role in the Target Sports, Inc. burglary. The sentence, announced by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and ATF Special Agent in Charge John B. DeVito, marks the culmination of a meticulous investigation by federal authorities.

Morales, who was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $48,775 in restitution, admitted her guilt on May 17, 2018. She confessed to helping Christian Roman and Jose Fontanez steal firearms from the federally licensed dealer, driving them between their hideout and the store while she served as a lookout.

Each time, Morales helped place stolen goods in her car after Roman and Fontanez broke into the store through a window. Following the heist, she even obstructed justice by alerting the thieves that law enforcement was closing in, extending their manhunt.

Her accomplices were Omar DeJesus, 32, and Onic Martinez, 34, both from Amsterdam, New York. They too faced justice with sentences of 120 months each for their roles in the theft and transport of firearms.

The mastermind behind it all, Christian Roman, 24, from Schenectady, awaits sentencing on May 29, 2019. Juan Saez, 35, from Rochester, New York, is scheduled to be sentenced on August 2, 2019, while Jose Fontanez, 36, from Schenectady, faces his day of reckoning on August 16, 2019.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne A. Myers led the prosecution in this case, which was investigated by the ATF, New York State Police, and the Glenville Police Department.
