A 42-year-old Minnesota man has been sentenced to 33 1/3 years in prison for producing child pornography involving two minor victims.
Sean Gerald Penoncello, a resident of Iron, Minnesota, was charged by superseding indictment on June 9, 2015, with two counts of producing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
Following a three-day trial, a jury found Penoncello guilty of all counts on September 23, 2015.
The evidence presented in court revealed that Penoncello had produced and possessed explicit images and videos of minors, including a 5-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Penoncello’s residence on March 27, 2015, and recovered two hidden thumb drives and a recording device containing the explicit images and videos.
Penoncello’s sentence includes 33 1/3 years in prison and 10 years supervised release.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Provinzino described Penoncello as a ‘predator’ who showed no remorse for his crimes, saying the long sentence is warranted.
The FBI remains committed to protecting vulnerable individuals, including children, from exploitation and abuse.
