Iowa City Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Firearm Charge
Davenports, Iowa – In a shocking turn of events, 32-year-old Sean White Hood of Iowa City, Iowa, was sentenced to 72 months in prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The sentencing took place on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Following his imprisonment, Hood was ordered to serve three years of supervised release.
The investigation, led by the Iowa City Police Department, found that Hood assaulted co-defendant Ka’leck Bolden at an apartment complex on July 24, 2021. Bolden, in retaliation, shot Hood, who then ran across the street, obtained a firearm from an unknown third-party, and fired several shots toward the apartment complex. A bystander vehicle was struck twice by Hood’s gunfire. Hood discarded his loaded firearm in bushes nearby.
Hood pleaded guilty to the charges on June 23, 2022. His co-defendant, Ka’leck Bolden, 24, of Cedar Rapids, received a 100-month sentence for Felon in Possession of a Firearm in August 2022.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement regarding Hood’s sentencing. The Iowa City Police Department conducted the investigation.
It’s alarming to see individuals with previous run-ins with the law still carrying firearms. This case highlights the need for stricter gun laws and increased community policing.
Hood’s case is a stark reminder that the consequences of committing a crime can be severe. His sentence serves as a warning to those who would seek to disregard the law.
