Seattle’s Justin Garrett Harrison, a hardened drug dealer from Belltown, was sentenced today to six years in federal prison for selling heroin and methamphetamine while armed with a handgun.
Harrison, 37, has been implicated in the sale of $2500 worth of heroin in downtown Seattle. His grandmother’s condominium became a hub for his illegal activities, serving as a storage and distribution point for hard drugs. U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes announced the sentence imposed by Judge John C. Coughenour.
Court records indicate that Harrison had been under police scrutiny since neighbors at his grandmother’s complex reported an influx of suspicious foot traffic. His arrest came following a sale to an undercover agent, where he was caught with meth, heroin, prescription pills, and a loaded handgun in the lobby of the building. In addition to the weapons charge, Harrison was convicted for possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking crime.
Harrison’s criminal history includes a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, which bars him from possessing firearms. The incident involved threatening a cab driver with a knife. The investigation into Harrison’s activities was conducted by the Seattle Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Special Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Manca, a Senior Deputy King County Prosecutor, prosecuted the case in federal court.
The sentence also mandates four years of supervised release following his prison term. This conviction underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on drug trafficking and gun-related crimes in Seattle’s downtown area.
