Fentanyl Trafficking Ring Busted in Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, Sebastian Gabriel Lugo-Lugo, a 20-year-old man from Orlando, has pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. This disturbing case highlights the growing issue of fentanyl trafficking in our communities.

According to the plea agreement, Lugo-Lugo sold counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl to an undercover agent multiple times between November 2023 and February 2024. During some of those transactions, the undercover agent observed a handgun next to Lugo-Lugo inside his vehicle. Additionally, on February 14, 2024, Lugo-Lugo sold the undercover agent a Ruger 9 mm handgun along with 50 fentanyl pills.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office City-County Investigative Bureau, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman is handling the prosecution of this case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities. The program brings together law enforcement agencies and community organizations to prevent violence and make our neighborhoods safer.

Lugo-Lugo faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years, up to life, in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in fentanyl trafficking and the importance of community vigilance in preventing such crimes.

The people of Orlando and surrounding areas can rest a little easier knowing that Lugo-Lugo is facing justice for his crimes. However, this case also highlights the need for continued efforts to combat the growing issue of fentanyl trafficking in our communities.
