Bryan Grover Marley, 60, of Sebring, Florida, is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to dealing firearms without a license and making false statements to a licensed dealer. The case, prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, exposes a black-market pipeline fueled by social media and fed by greed.
Marley admitted to selling over 170 firearms between July 2015 and April 2016 through Facebook posts, operating as an unlicensed dealer while pocketing profits from sales of handguns and AR-15 assault rifles. He purchased the weapons from federally licensed dealers but lied on federal forms, claiming he was the actual buyer—when in reality, he was acting as a middleman for buyers who responded to his online ads.
U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg handed down a sentence of one year and one day in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release. In addition, Marley agreed to forfeit 17 firearms seized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) during the investigation.
Wifredo A. Ferrer, then U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Brandt Schenken, ATF Special Agent in Charge, confirmed the sentencing. Ferrer praised ATF agents for dismantling a dangerous underground network that flouted federal gun laws with brazen ease.
Court records show Marley knowingly sold firearms to at least four individuals prohibited from owning guns—convicted felons and domestic violence offenders. Those buyers have since been indicted on federal charges for unlawful possession, underscoring the ripple effect of Marley’s criminal enterprise.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Funk. Court documents are available via the Southern District of Florida’s public docket at www.flsd.uscourts.gov or through PACER at pacer.flsd.uscourts.gov.
