Seth Emmanuel Andrews, Murder, Washington DC 2020
A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for strangling his mother to death in a gruesome act of violence. Seth Emmanuel Andrews, of Washington, D.C., was found guilty of second-degree murder by a D.C. Superior Court jury on November 26, 2025.
The crime took place on July 16, 2020, at Andrews’ mother’s home, located at 1035th Street, SE, Washington, D.C. According to the evidence presented at trial, Andrews strangled his mother, Hazel Evans, while she was inside her bedroom. The defendant was subsequently arrested on August 20, 2020.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentencing, stating that the maximum recommended sentence under the D.C. Voluntary Sentencing Guidelines was handed down to Andrews. Judge J. Michael Ryan also ordered five years of supervised release following the completion of Andrews’ prison term.
