Cyberstalking Charges Bring Florida Indictment

A Maryland man has been charged with cyberstalking and sending threatening communications. 36-year-old Seyed Ali Soroushjou of Cockeysville, Maryland, faces up to five years in federal prison on each charge.

According to court documents, FBI agents arrested Soroushjou on April 7, 2017, at his Maryland residence. He appeared in court in Baltimore and has been detained pending his transport to Jacksonville for further proceedings.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.

Soroushjou, if convicted, faces up to five years in federal prison on each charge. The defendant, a resident of Cockeysville, Maryland, remains in custody pending his transport to Jacksonville for further court proceedings.

Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow announced the return of the indictment, stating that the charges against Soroushjou are a serious matter that will be vigorously prosecuted.
