Shakur Jones Admits to Methamphetamine Trafficking, Morgantown WV, 2024
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – In a shocking turn of events, Shakur Jones, 25, of Detroit, Michigan, has admitted to federal charges related to methamphetamine trafficking in Monongalia County, WV.
Jones, the supplier of methamphetamine, cocaine base, and fentanyl, was the mastermind behind a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy. His operation was busted by law enforcement officers who searched a Morgantown residence and discovered over a kilogram of methamphetamine.
During the search, Jones was located in one of the bedrooms. A search of his phone revealed a photograph of 10 pounds of prepackaged methamphetamine taken two days before the search. The damning evidence sealed his fate, and he was forced to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Two other defendants, Nolan Eickleberry, 27, of Morgantown, and Dorian Myles, 26, of Detroit, Michigan, have also admitted to their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy and are awaiting sentencing.
The investigation was led by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Zelda Wesley and Christie Utt are prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case. Jones’s admission to the charges marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in West Virginia.
The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of methamphetamine on communities and the importance of continued efforts to combat this deadly drug.
