Shannon Wayne Herron, Methamphetamine Distribution, Alabama 2024

A Walker County man has been slapped with a nine-year prison sentence for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution ring, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

Shannon Wayne Herron, 50, of Jasper, Alabama, was sentenced to 108 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco.

Herron pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in February. According to the plea agreement, detectives with the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant on a residence in Jasper on November 1, 2023.

During the search, officers recovered 366 grams of pure methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, a ledger containing names with dollar amounts next to the names, four cell phones, and approximately $1,800 in cash.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case alongside the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristy Peoples prosecuted the case.

Herron’s sentence marks a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in Walker County. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of drug trafficking on communities.
