Shareef Landsmark, Murder and Narcotics Conspiracy, New York 2009

A Bronx man has been convicted of murder and narcotics conspiracy in connection with two deadly shootings in the Bronx, according to a guilty plea entered in federal court.

Shareef Landsmark, 38, of the Bronx, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to distribute narcotics and murdering two men in separate incidents in 2009 and 2012.

The first murder occurred on June 29, 2009, when Landsmark shot and killed Warren Wilbourne. Three years later, on September 17, 2012, Landsmark shot and killed Michael Perez.

Landsmark’s guilty plea was entered before U.S. Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison for his role in the narcotics conspiracy.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the New York City Police Department for their outstanding work in investigating the murders and commended the career prosecutors of his office for their efforts in securing Landsmark’s guilty plea.

Landsmark will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield later this year. The case is being prosecuted by the Office’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit, with Assistant United States Attorneys Adam Hobson, Alexandra Rothman, and Christy Slavik leading the prosecution.

The guilty plea marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families. It also highlights the commitment of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to holding accountable those who commit acts of violence in our communities.

The maximum potential sentence in this case is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for information purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge.
