Sharion Motley-Lipscomb, 29, already behind bars, is facing even more time after prison guards at the Federal Correctional Institute in Schuylkill County, PA, discovered a homemade weapon in his cell. The incident occurred January 17, 2026, and led to a March 10, 2026 indictment accusing Motley-Lipscomb of possessing a dangerous shank.
The weapon, described as a four-inch piece of sharpened plexiglass meticulously wrapped in cloth, was found during a routine search of Motley-Lipscomb’s housing unit. Authorities haven’t revealed how the inmate managed to construct the shank or what he allegedly planned to do with it, but a makeshift blade inside a federal prison is never a good sign.
Federal investigators – the Bureau of Prisons and the FBI – are handling the case, building it around the evidence collected during the cell search. Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Buchanan is prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Motley-Lipscomb could tack on an extra five years to his current sentence, along with supervised release and a fine. He’s presumed innocent, of course, until a jury says otherwise.
