Shawn Christy, a 27-year-old man from Macadoo, Pennsylvania, has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a fugitive from justice.
Christy had become a fugitive from justice after fleeing charges out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania for threats against the President and interstate communication of threats.
After an extensive manhunt, Christy was located in Ohio and arrested on September 21, 2018. During the arrest, he was found to be in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The matter is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa Riley following an investigation by the FBI and ATF.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
If convicted, Christy’s sentence will be determined by the court after a review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.
The sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
