Kimberly Mable Sims, Medicaid Kickback Scheme, North Carolina 2025

RALEIGH, N.C. – In a stunning revelation, Kimberly Mable Sims and her associates at Life Touch, LLC are facing charges for an alleged Medicaid kickback scheme that defrauded the program out of over $25 million. This development is part of the Department of Justice’s 2025 National Healthcare Fraud Takedown.

According to federal prosecutors, Sims, owner of a lab company, and her colleagues Francine Sims Super and Keke Komeko Johnson are accused of distributing more than $1 million in illegal remunerations to patients. These incentives were provided in exchange for attending substance abuse services at Life Touch, LLC. The scheme involved falsifying records and payments to the tune of over $25 million from Medicaid.

Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar warned that fraud against the healthcare system is a serious offense that impacts patient care and burdens taxpayers. ‘Today’s charges demonstrate our resolve to pursue those who attempt to profit by violating federal law and jeopardizing public resources,’ Bubar stated.

The defendants are also accused of failing to file tax returns, with over $6 million in assets seized as part of the investigation. The cases are being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Tasha Gardner and Assistant U.S. Attorney William M. Gilmore.

This massive takedown is a part of a larger operation that resulted in criminal charges against 324 defendants nationwide for health care fraud and illegal drug diversion schemes, totaling over $14.6 billion in intended loss. The United States has seized over $245 million in assets as a result of this coordinated law enforcement action.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi emphasized the administration’s commitment to holding such criminals accountable: ‘This administration will not tolerate criminals who line their pockets with taxpayer dollars while endangering the health and safety of our communities.’
