Sioux Falls Man Guilty of Child Pornography
A Sioux Falls man has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a child pornography case.
Eric Wallace Hedrick, 47, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier on July 26, 2021. He was also ordered to pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100 and serve five years of supervised release following his prison term.
Hedrick was convicted of Possession of Child Pornography after a federal grand jury indicted him on July 9, 2019. He had initially been accused of knowingly possessing child pornography that had been mailed, shipped, and transported in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce by any means, including by computer, between December 28, 2018, and May 28, 2019.
The evidence presented in court showed that Hedrick used his cell phones and tablet to search the internet for images and videos containing child pornography during this time period.
Hedrick’s sentence was enhanced due to a prior sex offense conviction in 2006.
This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuting the case. Hedrick was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following his sentencing.
