Defendant Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Heroin Trafficking

A Scranton woman has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for her role in a heroin trafficking ring that operated in the area.

Siquana Wallace, 39, was sentenced on December 18, 2014 in federal court in Scranton. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Wallace was found guilty of trafficking in excess of 100 grams of heroin.

Wallace pleaded guilty on May 29, 2013 to conspiring to distribute in excess of 100 grams of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, from September 2011 through May 2012. The investigation into Wallace’s activities was part of a larger probe into a conspiracy to distribute heroin between New York and Scranton and Wilkes-Barre.

The case was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office – Detective Division, the Pennsylvania State Police, as well as both the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre Police Departments.

Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Olshefski prosecuted the case. Wallace’s sentence includes 60 months imprisonment followed by eight years of supervised release.

The heroin trafficking ring was a significant threat to public safety in the area. The investigation and subsequent prosecution of Wallace and her associates are a major victory for law enforcement and a testament to their dedication to keeping communities safe.
