Andrew R. Trammell, Methamphetamine Possession with Intent to Distribute, Missouri 2019

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Andrew R. Trammell, 45, of St. Joseph, Missouri, is facing serious federal charges after a chaotic chase and discovery of a significant methamphetamine haul in Taney County. Trammell was indicted by a federal grand jury today for possession of approximately six pounds of methamphetamine with intent to distribute – a quantity that screams large-scale operation.

The indictment, returned in Springfield, Missouri, formally replaces a criminal complaint originally filed against Trammell on June 7, 2019. Federal prosecutors allege that on June 6, 2019, Trammell knowingly possessed 500 grams or more of the deadly drug with the clear intention of pushing it onto the streets. This isn’t a personal use case; we’re talking about a serious trafficking operation.

The bust unfolded after a Christian County sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on Trammell, who was behind the wheel of a Dodge Durango on Highway 65 near Highway EE. Trammell, predictably, didn’t comply. He floored it, leading deputies on a southbound pursuit that spilled over into Taney County. The chase culminated in a crash as Trammell entered Branson, Missouri, where he then attempted a short-lived escape on foot before being cut off by Branson police.

A search of the wrecked Durango revealed the source of the frantic getaway: a box tucked between the front and back seats containing roughly six pounds of methamphetamine – enough to devastate a community – and a “large quantity” of cash. Authorities haven’t disclosed the exact amount of money recovered, but it’s a safe bet it was substantial. This wasn’t a hobby; this was business.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Byron H. Black is leading the prosecution. The investigation was a coordinated effort between the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, the Taney County Sheriff’s Department, the Branson Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. These agencies worked together to get this poison off the streets and bring Trammell to justice.

It’s crucial to remember that this indictment is merely an accusation. Trammell is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a federal court of law. The burden of proof lies with the prosecution, who must present compelling evidence to a jury to secure a conviction. But with six pounds of meth and a high-speed chase on the record, the feds appear to have a strong case against Andrew Trammell.
