United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe dropped a重磅 bombshell today, announcing an indictment against Jose Godinez-Mendoza, a Guatemalan national with six deportation records, for illegal reentry into the United States.
The charges against Godinez-Mendoza, who is now 39 years old, stem from his brazen return to the U.S. on September 7, 2025, in the St. Augustine area. The man known for his defiant streak was collared during a traffic stop by St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
According to court documents, Godinez-Mendoza has been bounced from the U.S. no less than six times between December 29, 2011, and December 28, 2018. Despite his numerous removals, he never sought permission to lawfully reenter the country. His latest incursion was caught by federal agents who arrested him on September 11, 2025.
‘An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law,’ Kehoe reminded readers. ‘Godinez-Mendoza is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.’
This case is being handled with the full might of Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, under the guidance of Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.
Operation Take Back America has Godinez-Mendoza in its sights, as the nationwide initiative targets illegal immigration and seeks to extinguish cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protect local communities from the scourge of violent crime and human trafficking.
