Michael Slachta, Armed Robbery, California 2023

ALBANY, Ga. – The grimy details of Brandon Michael Slachta’s 15-year federal prison sentence for illegal gun possession have emerged following an Operation Take Back America investigation.

The 36-year-old Albany resident, Slachta, was sentenced as an armed career criminal to serve 180 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release by Chief U.S. District Judge Leslie Abrams Gardner on Sept. 23.

Slachta, who previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, faced no parole under federal law. His sentence is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice against armed career criminals like Slachta, said ATF Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robert Davis.

“Armed career felons with violent pasts who persist with criminal activity will face federal prosecution in the Middle District of Georgia,” U.S. Attorney William R. “Will” Keyes emphasized.

On July 17, 2024, an APD officer noticed Slachta tossing a black object into a silver Honda vehicle. A firearm and ammunition were discovered upon a consented search by the vehicle’s owner. Slachta confessed to being a felon with multiple prior convictions for violent felonies in various states.

The collaborative investigation was part of Operation Take Back America, which streamlines efforts against illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. The ATF and APD investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Lim prosecuting it for the Government.
