RALEIGH, N.C. – The gritty streets of Beaufort County are set to remain free from the shadow of drug kingpins Bobby Lee Moore, Jr., and Andre Trell Hamilton for decades after their convictions and sentences were handed down.
In a relentless effort to combat drug trafficking, Moore, 45, and Hamilton, 43, faced severe penalties for conspiring to distribute and aiding the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin. Moore pleaded guilty on March 20, 2025, receiving a 20-year sentence, while Hamilton followed suit with his own guilty plea on March 26, 2025, and was sentenced to 10 years.
“These two sold a lot of drugs, flooding our families and communities with poison,” declared U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle. “We will continue to work with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA to go after these big shark bad boys and hold them accountable in federal court.”
The BCSO played a pivotal role in dismantling Moore’s and Hamilton’s operations, utilizing confidential sources to arrange controlled purchases of drugs from February 2021 to July 2023. On May 31, 2023, Hamilton sold 56.77 grams of pure methamphetamine for $1,000.
Hamilton’s rap sheet stretches back two decades, with multiple convictions for assaults, domestic violence, burglary, and larceny. Moore, on the other hand, has been a fixture in the criminal justice system since September 2001, with drug distribution and violent crime convictions on his record.
Ellis Boyle, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement following sentencing by U.S. District Judges. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency were instrumental in the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Dixon spearheading the prosecution.
