Explosive Indictment Lands Slidell Man in Hot Water
A 38-year-old Slidell man is facing serious heat after a federal grand jury indicted him for manufacturing explosives without a license and unlawful storage. Devin Junneau, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, was charged with four counts of engaging in the business of manufacturing and dealing in explosive materials without a license, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 842(a)(1) and 844(a)(1). He’s also accused of improper storage of explosive materials, which is a serious offense.
According to court documents, Junneau manufactured and sold explosive materials without a license on February 6, 2024, March 6, 2024, and May 1, 2024. This reckless behavior put the community at risk and could have led to devastating consequences. It’s a miracle no one was hurt.
Junneau faces up to 10 years of imprisonment for Counts 1, 2, and 3, plus up to a $250,000 fine and up to 3 years of supervised release. For Count 4, he faces up to 1 year of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to 3 years of supervised release. He’ll also have to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee as to all 4 counts.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation was led by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and it’s being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Bell of the Violent Crime Unit.
This is a stark reminder that manufacturing explosives without a license is a serious crime with severe consequences. We’ll continue to follow this case and bring you updates as more information becomes available.”
