Sophie Little Wounded, Larceny, South Dakota 2023

A Dupree woman’s brazen theft of a 2013 Ford Mustang from a Sioux Falls driveway has landed her behind bars. Sophie Little Wounded, a/k/a Sophie Dupris, has been sentenced to time served from her arrest on October 18, 2022, through May 1, 2023.

The 35-year-old woman pleaded guilty to Larceny on January 4, 2023, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in November of 2022. Little Wounded’s crime wave began on the evening of October 18, 2022, when she allegedly took the 2013 Ford Mustang without the owner’s consent. The vehicle was reported stolen on the morning of October 19, 2022, to the Sioux Falls Police Department.

Little Wounded was also accused of taking $700 in cash belonging to the victim. The money was not recovered during the investigation, however the vehicle was recovered by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services after performing a traffic stop on Little Wounded at approximately 9:30 a.m. on October 19, 2022, a short distance outside of Eagle Butte.

Little Wounded’s sentence includes two years of supervised release, as well as being ordered to pay $700 in restitution and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

The case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Sioux Falls Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.

Little Wounded was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, bringing an end to a crime spree that spanned over a week. The brazen theft of the 2013 Ford Mustang has left many in the community shaken, and serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of committing a crime.
