United States Attorney Pete Serrano announced the 20-year federal prison sentence for Charles Michael McClain, 40, a Spokane, Washington, resident. McClain was found guilty on May 6, 2025, after a jury trial and was sentenced to 20 years by United States District Judge Thomas O. Rice.
McClain was fingered by the Quad Cities Drug Task Force for supplying illegal drugs including fentanyl pills and powder, and methamphetamine in the Clarkston area. Agents executed a search warrant at his Riverton Avenue apartment on May 6, 2024, where they discovered drug paraphernalia, baggies filled with drugs, and $18,000 cash.
The investigation revealed that McClain had been purchasing large quantities of fentanyl and meth for about a year, planning to make another substantial purchase the day of his arrest. McClain has a prior conviction in Washington state court for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, serving 84 months before this federal sentence.
“Deadly drugs claim more victims every day, including here in Eastern Washington,” said U.S. Attorney Serrano. “We are prioritizing the prosecution of these cases and working to disrupt drug sources.”
Special Agent in Charge Mehtab Syed of the FBI emphasized the dangers of drug trafficking combined with firearm possession: “Drug trafficking is a deadly combination that puts our communities at extreme risk.”
This case was jointly investigated by the FBI and the Quad Cities Drug Task Force, which includes multiple law enforcement agencies. Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca R. Perez is prosecuting the case.
