Springfield Felon Caught with Cocaine, Guns, Faces Life
BOSTON – Today, Pedro Deleon, a 32-year-old felon from Springfield, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine intended for distribution and firearms offenses.
On October 22, 2024, Deleon possessed with the intent to distribute drugs and two firearms, which landed him in hot water. Deleon was previously convicted of a crime punishable for a period exceeding one year, making him a repeat offender.
The charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm provides for a sentence of up to 15 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. The charge of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug distribution provides for a sentence of up to life in prison, up to five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse of the Springfield Branch Office is prosecuting the case, while United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and other officials expressed their satisfaction with Deleon’s guilty plea.
U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni scheduled sentencing for September 25, 2025. Deleon was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2025 and has been held accountable for his actions.
