St. Pete Narcotics Kingpin Sentenced to 17 Years
Tampa, FL – In a major blow to St. Petersburg’s narcotics scene, Altwan L. Holloway, 36, has been sentenced to 17 years and six months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
According to court documents, Holloway was part of a years-long drug conspiracy that led to the distribution of at least 149 kilograms of cocaine in St. Petersburg. This conspiracy was responsible for flooding the city’s streets with deadly narcotics.
Law enforcement agents discovered a ‘stash house’ in St. Petersburg, where they found digital scales, mixing agents, containers with cocaine residue, and a ‘kilo’ press. Additionally, they seized 850 grams of cocaine and $71,930 in cash.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, with Assistant United States Attorney Shauna S. Hale handling the prosecution. This case was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force’s ‘Operation High Cargo,’ a program aimed at dismantling the nation’s most serious drug trafficking organizations.
Holloway pleaded guilty to the charges on December 9, 2014. His sentence is a testament to the hard work of law enforcement agencies in tackling the scourge of narcotics in St. Petersburg.
As the city continues to grapple with the effects of drug trafficking, this sentencing sends a clear message: those involved in this deadly trade will be held accountable. The people of St. Petersburg can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that justice has been served.
