St. Petersburg Cocaine Dealer Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison
A St. Petersburg man has been sentenced to 12 years and 7 months in federal prison for selling cocaine, according to a recent federal court ruling.
Shamon D. Heatly, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charlene E. Honeywell on an undisclosed date. Heatly had previously pleaded guilty to the charges on October 28, 2019.
According to Grimy Times sources, the investigation into Heatly was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The investigation was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program, aimed at disrupting and dismantling serious drug trafficking and money laundering organizations.
Heatly was previously convicted of numerous narcotics offenses, including multiple counts of possession and delivery of cocaine, prior to committing the offense that led to his recent sentencing.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Callan Albritton, who successfully argued for Heatly’s lengthy prison sentence.
Heatly’s recent sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in narcotics trafficking, and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat this serious crime.
