A vicious stabbing at a party has landed a 20-year-old St. Francis man in federal prison. Westlee Ford was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in custody for Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding and Simple Assault.
According to court records, Ford was involved in a heated argument with the victim at a party on June 15, 2013. The dispute escalated, and Ford stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, leaving him with four stab wounds.
The investigation into the stabbing was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case, which resulted in Ford’s guilty plea and sentencing.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno handed down the sentence, which includes 12 months and 1 day in custody and a fine of $35 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Ford was ordered to self-report to the U.S. Marshals Service by noon on January 22, 2014. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of violence and the serious consequences that follow.
