Bronx Man’s Airport Adventure Turns into 10-Year Prison Sentence Nightmare
ALBANY, NEW YORK – Stan Johnson, 23, of the Bronx, New York, thought he’d find excitement by sneaking into Albany International Airport, but what he got was a 10-year prison sentence.
According to court documents, Johnson was arraigned today on an indictment charging him with unlawfully breaching a perimeter fence, entering an unoccupied aircraft, and entering the terminal at the airport on May 24, 2021.
The charge filed against Johnson carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
Johnson was arraigned today in Albany, before United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart, and ordered detained pending trial.
The charges in the indictment are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping.
