BOISE – In a hard-hitting blow to the meth trade in Idaho, Brooks Case, 33, from Star, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. The sentence, announced by U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis, also mandates four years of supervised release upon his prison term.
Case’s conviction, secured by a federal jury on June 4, 2020, stems from an investigation that spanned over a year into the notorious West Side Loma gang. Law enforcement’s controlled buy in April 2019 led to Case’s arrest, as he supplied the gang member with methamphetamine.
Case’s criminal history is long and storied, marked by previous convictions and probation violations. The investigation, which ran from October 2018 to October 2019, showcased the breadth of his involvement in the drug trade.
The Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force, a collaboration of federal, state, and local agencies, played a crucial role in the case’s success. Agencies such as the FBI, ATF, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Boise Police Department, and others were instrumental in bringing Case to justice.
The Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), known for targeting serious drug trafficking organizations, provided supplemental federal funding and intelligence support for this operation. The program’s multi-agency approach was pivotal in dismantling the gang’s operations.
