Stealing Social Security Benefits Lands Couple Behind Bars

A New Hope couple’s scheme to steal a deceased relative’s social security benefits has landed them behind bars. Roger White, 58, and his wife Audria White-Nunnally, 61, both of New Hope, Pennsylvania, were sentenced for their crimes.

According to court documents, the couple pleaded guilty in October of 2015 to conspiracy, wire fraud, and theft of government funds. Audria White-Nunnally was also charged with making false statements to federal agents.

The couple’s scheme resulted in a loss to the government of approximately $68,462. In an attempt to convince Social Security Administration employees that the deceased relative was still alive, the couple placed an elderly relative in the attic of their New Hope home.

Roger White was sentenced to eight months in prison, while his wife Audria White-Nunnally was sentenced to nine months in prison. Both defendants were also ordered to complete three years of supervised release and to pay $68,462 in restitution.

The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher E. Parisi.

The court’s decision sends a clear message that stealing government funds will not be tolerated. As the investigation revealed, the couple’s actions were a blatant attempt to deceive and steal from the government.

Their scheme has now come to an end, and they will face the consequences of their actions. The community can rest assured that those who commit such crimes will be held accountable.

The case is a reminder that the Social Security Administration and law enforcement agencies will work tirelessly to prevent and investigate such crimes.
