Medford Methamphetamine Trafficker Sentenced to 12.5 Years in Federal Prison

MEDFORD, Ore. – In a shocking move, Senior U.S. District Judge Owen M. Panner has handed down a 12 1/2 year prison sentence to Steven Allen Longbrake, 28, of Medford, Oregon, for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

This harsh sentence comes after Longbrake pled guilty to the offense on September 15, 2014. Following his prison term, Longbrake will be placed on supervised release for five years.

The case against Longbrake began on October 15, 2013, when a Central Point Police Officer pulled over the vehicle Longbrake was driving. Upon further investigation, police discovered approximately four ounces of methamphetamine on Longbrake’s person and in his car, along with digital scales and drug packaging in his backpack. A trash bag full of marijuana plants was also found in the back of the car.

Longbrake’s history of crime stretches far beyond this recent conviction. He has prior felony convictions for burglary in the first degree, manufacture of a controlled substance, and delivery of a controlled substance. His record also includes convictions for assault in the fourth degree, strangulation, escape in the third degree, and possession of a controlled substance.

This case was jointly investigated by the Central Point Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Judith R. Harper leading the prosecution.

Longbrake’s sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the harsh consequences faced by those involved in methamphetamine trafficking. As the battle against this devastating substance continues, it is clear that the justice system will not tolerate such actions.
