A Lincoln man has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for selling large quantities of methamphetamine.
According to a recent sentencing, Steven James Martinez, 24, was found guilty of two counts of distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine. The crimes took place on March 28 and March 29, 2022, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
On those days, an undercover officer working with the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force purchased meth from Martinez. The March 28, 2022, purchase was approximately one ounce, and the March 29, 2022, purchase was approximately two ounces. Testing showed those two quantities contained a total of at least 52 grams of actual (or pure) meth.
The case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force.
U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr announced the sentencing, which was carried out by Senior United States District Judge. Martinez was sentenced to 77 months’ imprisonment on each count to run concurrently, meaning he will serve both sentences at the same time. There is no parole in the federal system.
After Martinez’s release from prison, he will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.
This sentencing marks a significant blow to the ongoing battle against methamphetamine distribution in Nebraska. The Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force continues to work tirelessly to combat this issue and keep the community safe.
