ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A Petersburg man has been caught red-handed in a major methamphetamine sting operation in the rural hills of Grant County. Steven Leroy Dillow, Jr., 35, pleaded guilty today to one count of ‘Distribution of Methamphetamine’ in a shocking turn of events that has left law enforcement officials breathing a sigh of relief.
According to court documents, Dillow admitted to selling methamphetamine in June 2021 in Grant County. The charges against him carry a maximum sentence of 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. But make no mistake, this is just the beginning of the end for Dillow, and his accomplices.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the West Virginia State Police investigated the case, bringing Dillow to justice.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the hearing, where Dillow’s guilty plea was accepted. The judge will now determine the actual sentence based on the seriousness of the offenses and any prior criminal history Dillow may have.
The grant of $1 million in fines is a stark reminder of the severity of the crime and the potential consequences for those involved. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive and destructive substance that has ravaged communities across the country.
