Raymond J Gordon, Heroin Distribution, CT 2023

STRATFORD, CT – Federal charges have been leveled against Raymond J. Gordon, also known as ‘X-Ray,’ a 30-year-old resident of Stratford, for distributing heroin that led to a tragic overdose and the death of a young woman.

The United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Deirdre M. Daly, and Michael J. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s New England region, announced the charges as part of an ongoing initiative targeting dealers who peddle lethal narcotics like heroin, fentanyl, or opioids.

Gordon was nabbed today and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah A. L. Merriam in New Haven, where he was ordered detained without bail.

According to court documents, on December 10, 2016, Stratford police and emergency medical personnel were called to a local residence after reports of an unresponsive 22-year-old woman. The victim, found deceased in her bedroom, had purchased heroin from Gordon moments before her death. Authorities recovered wax folds containing suspected heroin, a hypodermic needle, and other drug paraphernalia.

The federal complaint charges Gordon with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. However, U.S. Attorney Daly reminded that the charges are merely accusations and that Gordon is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is being investigated by the DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force in collaboration with the Stratford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito is handling the prosecution.
