Tacoma – In a massive sweep that hit the streets of Tacoma, law enforcement cracked down on an alleged fentanyl trafficking ring, nabbing eight members of the Knoccout Crips street gang. Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced the arrests following a 13-warrant execution and searches of nine locations over 36 hours.
The investigation, which spanned 18 months and included a two-month wiretap, yielded substantial seizures including kilogram quantities of fentanyl at Sea-Tac airport. The FBI’s South Sound Safe Streets Gang Task Force played a pivotal role in the operation, collaborating with numerous law enforcement agencies to dismantle the drug ring.
Miller detailed how the conspiracy stretched from Arizona to Maryland, with drug mules attempting to transport fentanyl across state lines. W. Mike Herrington, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Seattle field office, highlighted the Operation Summer Heat initiative, which targets violent criminals and aims to restore community safety.
The defendants, including Bryant K Moss Jr., Gary Williams, Dominique Woods, Joshua Logsdon, Michael Lewis, Dallas Martin, Josaphina Diaz, Forest Neal, and Genesis Moreau, are charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. The investigation also resulted in the arrest of seven additional individuals due to probable cause established in yesterday’s search warrants.
Seized during the operation were 34 kg of fentanyl, 45 kg of marijuana, nine firearms, as well as significant quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana, totaling over $111,524.25 in cash. The substantial drug seizures could result in mandatory minimum sentences of ten years for some defendants if convicted.
This investigation serves as a stark reminder of the FBI’s dedication to combating violent criminals and gangs. Agencies involved included Homeland Security Investigations, Tacoma Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Department of Corrections, Federal Air Marshal Service, Port of Seattle Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Seattle Police Department, and Washington State Patrol.
