Crack Cocaine Kingpin Sentenced to 10 Years

In a major blow to the streets of Marion and Carbondale, Tommy T. Langston, a/k/a ‘G,’ 38, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a crack cocaine conspiracy.

According to Acting United States Attorney James L. Porter, Langston was involved in the distribution of 154.2 grams of crack cocaine in Williamson and Jackson Counties between October 2014 and July 2015. The indictment charged Langston with conspiracy to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine, to which he had previously pled guilty.

At sentencing, the judge found Langston responsible for his role in the distribution of the illicit substance. Langston’s crimes were further exposed during the investigation, as he sold crack cocaine to confidential sources working for law enforcement.

Langston’s sentence includes 120 months in federal prison, to be followed by 8 years of supervised release, and a fine of $400.00. His co-defendant, Tammy R. Whitton, has previously been sentenced to 120 months in prison for her role in the crack cocaine conspiracy.

Two other co-defendants have pled guilty to their roles in the crack cocaine conspiracy and are awaiting sentencing. One co-defendant has pled not guilty and is awaiting trial.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group, Drug Enforcement Administration, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Carbondale Police Department, with the assistance of the Williamson and Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Offices.
